Chris
Wimmer Hopes to Win Big in Las Vegas Truck Race
Chris Wimmer and MB Motorsports hope to regain
their top-20 form Saturday night at the
Las Vegas 350 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
event.
Wimmer had three top-21 finishes earlier
in the year at Milwaukee, Kansas, and Kentucky
and hopes his luck at the bigger tracks
holds this weekend.
“Most of the success the team has had
this year has been on the big tracks,” said
Wimmer, “so we’re really looking
forward to Vegas. Plus, MB Motorsports has
been pretty good at this track historically,
so we’re pretty pumped up.”
While primary sponsorship has yet to materialize
for Wimmer, MB Motorsports owner/crew chief
Mike Mittler said his driver has done the best
he can with the limited funding available.
“Obviously, we’d love to have
the multi-million-dollar sponsor to give us
every little thing we need,” he said, “but
unfortunately, that hasn’t panned out
for us yet. But Chris is a smart driver and
a patient driver and has been able to drive
our trucks to the checkered flag with several
strong finishes. We‘ve struggled in the
engine department the past two races, but with
virtually only 10 laps practice Chris got up
on the wheel and put us in each race with strong
qualifying runs.”
“Chris Wimmer is one of the better drivers
we’ve had in our 10-year run in the NASCAR
Craftsman Truck Series,” Mittler continued. “People
always talk about Jamie (McMurray) and Carl
(Edwards), but in a few years, Chris’s
name will be mentioned in the same breath.
He’s a good driver and we’re looking
forward to another good race Saturday night
in Vegas.”
The Las Vegas 350 will be carried live on
the SPEED Channel at 10 p.m. EST and live radio
coverage will be carried on MRN starting at
8:30 p.m. EST.
