Chris Wimmer Looking For Success in Music
City
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Chris
Wimmer has seen success at the bigger tracks
this season with top 20s at the Milwaukee
Mile and Kansas. So it’s no surprise
Wimmer and Foristell, Mo.-MB Motorsports
are looking forward to the Toyota Tundra
200 Saturday afternoon at the 1.33 mile
oval that is Nashville Superspeedway.
“
I always enjoyed running the short tracks,” said
Wimmer, “especially when I drove
late models in Wisconsin and when I drove
in ASA (American Speed Association), but
I’ve really enjoyed these bigger
tracks like Kansas and Kentucky and we
have the finishes to show for it. MB Motorsports
has always done well on the bigger tracks
and I’ve been having a lot of fun
on them as well.”
Not all the finishes have been great for
Wimmer this season, but Wimmer said his
spirits have been kept high by the support
of his crew and MB Motorsports owner/crew
chief, Mike Mittler. “Mike’s
been great,” he said. “One
of the reasons I decided to sign with him
back in January was the fact he has produced
so many great drivers like Carl Edwards
and Jamie McMurray. That showed me he had
the patience to work with young drivers
and I know he’s been very patient
with me and it’s been a tremendous
help.”
Mittler said working with Wimmer has been
a dream and is looking forward to successful
races this season. “When you sign
on a young driver, you never know what’s
going to happen,” he said. “Sometimes
you get a Carl or a Jamie or a Kenny Irwin,
and other times you get guys who tear up
a ton of equipment, aren’t willing
to work hard, and are never heard from
again. Chris definitely belongs in that
first group. We haven’t really run
as good as we would have liked this season,
but our finishes wouldn’t be as good
as they have been without Chris behind
the wheel. He’s one of the smartest
drivers we’ve seen in this shop and
I look for him to go far in NASCAR.”
The Toyota Tundra 200 will be broadcast
live at the Nashville Speedway on television
by SPEED Channel at 5 p.m. local time and
4:30 p.m. local time by MRN Radio.
