Chris
Wimmer Looking for First Top-10 in Kentucky
As the finishes continue to get better, so
does the outlook on the season for Chris Wimmer
and
the MB Motorsports NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
(NCTS) team. After two DNFs to start the season,
Wimmer has put together two very impressive
top-20 finishes at Milwaukee and Kansas and
is looking
to improve those stats Saturday night at the
Built Ford Tough 250 to be held at the Kentucky
Speedway.
“The past couple of races have been
pretty good for us,” said Wimmer. “We
still have some things to work on, but those
will always improve with time. The important
thing for me is to continue getting seat time.
With the way we’ve been running and with
my guys working as hard as they have, we are
looking to start getting top-10 finishes.”
MB Motorsports owner/crew chief Mike Mittler
said the biggest improvement he has seen with
his latest protégé is an increase
in Wimmer’s patience. “Last week
was a great example of how patient Chris has
become,” said Mittler, one of the inaugural
NCTS owners. “All he had was high gear
all day, he had to be pushed out of the pit
box, and was not getting good restarts, but
he hung on to a broken, ill-handling truck,
was able to react to the accidents around him,
and brought home another top-20 finish. We’ve
expected big things from Chris since we signed
him in January and he’s not disappointing
us.”
Wimmer, who pilots the #63 Ford F-150, will
be one of the Ford drivers attending a driver
question-and-answer session at the track at
3:30 p.m. local time Saturday prior to the
race. After the Q&A, the drivers will sign
autographs for attending fans.
The Built Ford Tough 250 Presented by the
Greater Cincinnati Ford Dealers will be broadcast
live on the SPEED Channel at 7 p.m. CST and
MRN Radio at 6:30 p.m. CST.
