David Stover - #63 Ford Truck - IRP Post Race Report
The day progressed well through practice and qualifying as
David Stover learned the line around Indianapolis Raceway Park. David had never
raced at IRP, but he quickly adapted and was 20th quick in practice
and qualified for the 27th starting position, out of 46 trucks. He
continued in the early part of the race to drive the #63 RACEceiver / Dave Porter
Truck Sales Ford forward in the pack, until lap 33, when contact with another
truck turned the #63 Ford around and backed it into the wall. The crew worked
feverishly to replace the left truck arm, rear track bar, and left rear shock
in an attempt to put David back on the track. Unfortunately, the damage to the
rear frame and fuel cell area was too severe, forcing the team to settle for
35th finishing position.
"We had a great handling truck tonight and I'm really disappointed
I couldn't keep it from backing into the wall, " commented David Stover. "A
truck in front of me checked up and I hit him about the same time I was on the
brakes. When the brakes locked up it just turned sideways and backed into the
wall. This MB Motorsports team worked their heart out to give me a good truck.
This is primarily a volunteer crew who give up a lot of their spare time to
help us go racing. We wanted to have a good race for our new associate sponsor,
RACEceiver. They offer a small pager size scanner at a reasonable price that
will let race fans listen into their favorite team's conversation and strategy.
We planned on having a better race for them."
The RACEceiver.com SW-251 Microscanner has 251 pre-programmed
NASCAR team frequencies, plus MRN radio. The pager-size scanner fits in your
pocket or clips on your hat and with the touch of a button immediately switches
from your favorite team frequency to MRN and back. Buy today at $79.95 and listen
to David Stover or your favorite driver. To order, go to
www.RACEceiver.com or contact MB Motorsports at
www.mbracing.net or call 636-463-2464.
"It was a short track racing accident," stated Mike Mittler,
owner and crew chief. "David did a great job adapting to a race track he had
never seen before. We made good forward progress in practice and David put us
in the race on time. When you start that far back in the pack, you know you
probably will get a tire mark or two. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is known
for tough truck racing. It was just a little too rough for us tonight."
The MB Motorsports #63 Ford Truck will be in action again
at Bristol Motor Speedway on Wednesday, August 20, 2003 at 8:00 PM (eastern).
The race will be broadcast live on Speed Channel and MRN radio.
