David Stover Ready to Run His Home Track - Kansas Speedway
David
Stover, driver of the #63 MB Motorsports Ford Truck, considers Kansas Speedway
his home track since it is the closest NASCAR track to his hometown, Tulsa,
Oklahoma. David also has many friends and fans in the Kansas City area as a
result of 2002 rookie-of-the-year honors he earned driving late model stock
cars at nearby I-70 Speedway, Odessa, Missouri.
David
will be driving in his 3rd NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race when
he tackles his 1st speedway race at the 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway. He successfully
met the challenges of the Memphis and Milwaukee racetracks the past two weeks
by finishing 25th and 18th, respectively. The team also
earned the Waste Management Picking Up the Places award in Milwaukee, by advancing
12 positions for the 18th place finish.
"It will
be fun to run Kansas Speedway," stated David Stover. "There's a little pressure
with this race. It will be my 3rd NASCAR race and my 1st
time on a 1.5-mile track. But this is the place that the MB Motorsports #63
team got their best finish last year – 8th place. I know these guys
know how to setup the truck, now it is up to me to run a good race and hopefully
bring home a good finish.”
MB Motorsports
based out of Foristell, Missouri, a western suburb of St. Louis, has a long
racing history in the Kansas City area. Since 1990, they have competed at I-70
Speedway in the late model division, and in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
at I-70 Speedway, Topeka Road Course, and Kansas Speedway. MB Motorsports has
launched the NASCAR careers of drivers from the surrounding area including Jamie
McMurray (Joplin, MO), Carl Edwards (Columbia, MO), and David Stover (Tulsa,
OK).
"We have
many friends and fans in the Kansas City area," commented owner, Mike Mittler.
"We've logged a lot miles between St. Louis and Kansas City over the years.
The last two years we've been able to run pretty well at Kansas Speedway, finishing
16th and 8th. Last year with Carl Edwards driving in only his 3rd
NASCAR race we had our best NASCAR Truck finish (8th place) since
we started our team in 1995. This will be David’s 3rd NASCAR race
this year. I’m sure he will put pressure on himself, but we simply expect him
to do his best. We approach each race with 3 goals – qualify for the race, run
the truck to the limit the setup will allow, and finish the race.”
