Consistent Run at Milwaukee Lands 18th Place Finish for David
Stover & #63 Team
David Stover, in his 2nd NASCAR race maintained a steady, consistent pace throughout
the "GNC Live Well 200" NASCAR Craftsman Truck Race in Milwaukee to
finish in 18th position and earn the "Waste Management Picking Up The Places"
award by advancing 12 positions. The Summer Bay Resort / Dave Porter Truck Sales
#63 team started the race in 30th position after working hard in practice to
find the proper setup. As the race progressed, David's smooth, consistent lap
times help him continually gain track position to finish in 18th place.
"That was fun, but I had to really concentrate with the long runs,"
commented David Stover. "I didn't even take a drink of water until the
caution came out, but didn't realize I was thirsty until then. We had trouble
entering the corners, but were strong off all day long. We pulled a spring rubber
and took out a round of wedge on the first pit stop, which helped. We just kept
digging and are happy with the 18th place finish. This is a great team to work
with. These guys just keep looking for a better setup. I've learned so much
in just two races. I'm looking forward to the mile and a half Kansas track next
week. There will be a little pressure for me, because this team had its best
finish ever last year at Kansas. We will try our best to repeat or better last
years run."
Two marketing partners joined MB Motorsports for the Milwaukee race, Big Mike's
Exterior Repair from Dousman, Wisconsin, and Dupont StainMaster Carpets. Big
Mike's has been in contracting and exterior repair business for 27-years doing
both residential and commercial roofing, siding, windows, etc. in the southern
Wisconsin area.
"David did a great job today," stated Mike Mittler, owner and crew
chief. "We missed the setup a little for qualifying, but David still got
us in the show on time. We changed a lot of things before the race, which made
it better. With only one caution flag we didn't have much opportunity to help
David. He just ran a smooth and consistent race, stayed out of trouble, and
brought the truck home in one piece. We are proud of David and the whole team
for winning the Waste Management Picking Up The Places award."
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series moves onto Kansas Speedway for the "O'Reilly
Auto Parts 250" on Saturday, July 5, 2003 at 1:00 PM (central time). The
race will be broadcast live on Speed Channel television and MRN radio.
