Regan Smith Will Drive MB Motorsports #63 Ford at South Boston
18-year-old rising star and NASCAR hopeful Regan Smith will make his NASCAR
Craftsman Truck Series debut this Saturday at Big Daddy’s South Boston Speedway
in the No. 63 MB Motorsports Ford truck.
"I am thrilled to have this opportunity to compete in the No. 63 truck for
owner Mike Mittler and everyone at MB Motorsports," Smith said. "There have
been several drivers that have gotten their starts in NASCAR with MB Motorsports.
Hopefully this can be a launching pad for my career as well."
MB Motorsports has fielded entries for NASCAR drivers such as the late Kenny
Irwin, Jr., Jamie McMurray and current driver Carl Edwards. The team plans to
run Edwards for Rookie-of-the-Year honors next season on the Craftsman Truck
Series tour.
For Smith, this will mark a return to Big Daddy’s South Boston Speedway. Smith,
who competed the past two seasons on the USAR ProCup Series, has raced at South
Boston on several occasions.
"It also helps ease any worries I may have by making my NASCAR debut on a track
where I've raced several times," Smith added. "South Boston is a fun track to
race on and always provides some great racing action for the fans."
Smith is known for his qualifying. During the 2001 USAR ProCup Series campaign,
Smith garnered four consecutive pole awards. Smith is also the 1999 Allison
Legacy Series National Points Champion.
The Hardee’s 250 at Big Daddy’s South Boston Speedway will get the green flag
this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EST. The event will be televised LIVE on ESPN2 and
MRN radio.
