Regan Smith Ready to Challenge Phoenix Racetrack in #63 Truck
Regan Smith is anxious and ready conquer Phoenix International Raceway in his
second NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race. He will be piloting the #63 MB Motorsports
Ford Truck, as he did at South Boston Speedway.
"I'm excited to be running the MB Motorsports #63 truck again," commented Regan.
"I had the opportunity to spend 3 days at the Phoenix track recently watching
several drivers test. It would have been better to be on the track, but I learned
a lot by watching and talking to the other drivers. We'll do our best to keep
the #63 Diamond Cut Jeans Ford on the lead lap and hopefully finish in the top
-10 Friday."
"It is a pleasure to have Regan back in the seat of our truck, " stated Mike
Mittler, owner and crew chief. "He did an outstanding job for us at South Boston
a few weeks ago. With his talent and understanding of the truck setup it is
hard to believe Regan is only 19 years old. He sure performs at a much older,
experienced level."
Smith is known for his qualifying. With only 20 laps of practice, Regan qualified
the #63 truck in the 28th starting position at South Boston. In a recent Busch
race at Memphis Motor Speedway, he qualified 15th. During the 2001 USAR ProCup
Series campaign, Smith garnered four consecutive pole awards. Smith is also
the 1999 Allison Legacy Series National Points Champion.
The “Chevy Silverado 150” NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race will be run at
Phoenix International Raceway on Friday, November 8, 2002 at 1PM (Mountain).
The race will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and MRN radio.
