Missouri-Native
Carl Edwards, #63 Truck Driver, Heads
to his Home Track - Kansas Speedway
MB Motorsports driver Carl Edwards will make his third
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series appearance this weekend in the O’Reilly Auto Parts
250, and he’s excited that it’s at Kansas Speedway. Carl is a Missouri
native who grew up in Columbia, just 100 miles east of Kansas City.
"Going to Kansas Speedway is a big deal to me," commented Carl Edwards. "Since
I live in Columbia, this is like my home track and a lot of friends and fans
will be there to watch. I watched this track being built and dreamed that I
could run here someday."
The team has also run well at the Kansas Speedway. In last year’s NCTS
debut at the track, the #63 finished in 16th place – the team’s best
finish of 2001.
MB Motorsports is headquartered in Foristell, Missouri, just outside of St.
Louis and the 3-hour trip across I-70 to the Kansas City racetracks is
a very familiar trip for the team. Since 1990, MB Motorsports has competed at
I-70 Speedway in late model stock cars and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series,
as well as the road course at Heartland Park outside of Topeka, Kansas.
"We've logged a lot of miles on I-70 between St. Louis and Kansas City over
the past 13 years," commented owner, Mike Mittler. "I-70 was our home track
when we ran the late model cars. We are excited to be able to return to the
new Kansas Speedway. We have a lot of fans in this area."
I’m excited,” continued Carl. “The team and #63 Ford Truck ran well at
Daytona earlier in the year and raced well at Kansas last year, which gives
me confidence in the setup to run well this weekend I’d like nothing
more than to keep the #63 Ford in the lead pack all day. There will be
a lot of friends and family rooting us on and we definitely want to give them
plenty of things to cheer about.”
Associate sponsorship for this weekend’s race will be provided by Blazin’
Pits. Blazin’ Pits is a 5-foot long, portable, cooking pit, which
is excellent for company barbecues, church picnics, parties and catering.
The unit is designed with 6 stainless steel rotating racks driven by a 110-volt
motor to provide even cooking. A 2” Class II hitch and high-speed bearings allow
highway towing for easy relocation. Blazin’ Pits is manufactured by Mittler
Brothers Machine and Tool. Call 1-800-467-2464 for additional
information.
"We thought it was very appropriate to debut Blazin' Pits here at Kansas Speedway,"
said Mike Mittler. "Kansas City is world famous for its barbecue
and we’re certain that a lot of fans around here would love to have a Blazin’
Pit of their own.”
Watch for the #63 MB Motorsports Ford Truck in the O’Reilly Auto Parts 250
