Gary Showalter Joins Waterloo Storage Team
Veteran NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series crew chief, Gary Showalter, will work
with the #63 Waterloo Tool Storage Ford Truck team during the remaining 2001
race schedule. Gary will apply his chassis and suspension expertise to the #63
Ford truck to assist driver Larry Gunselman motor around Texas Motor Speedway,
Las Vegas Motor Speedway and California Speedway.
"I'm excited to have Gary working with us," commented Larry Gunselman. "His
knowledge and experience should help us get around the race track faster."
Gary Showalter is a fixture in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. He has been
involved in the truck series since it’s beginning, working every truck race
until the most recent race at South Boston Virginia. Gary has guided team
activities and won races with notable drivers Butch Miller, the late Kenny Irwin
Jr., Terry Cook, and Randy Tolsma. Gary also has the distinct honor of having
won truck races with all three-truck manufacturers participating in the series,
Ford, Chevy and Dodge. Before joining the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series,
Gary, an Ohio native, was a winning crew chief in the Iceman Series (Late Model
Stock Cars) and the 1994 American Speed Association champion with Butch Miller.
"We are very pleased to have Gary working with our team," stated owner Mike
Mittler. "Gary's experience we believe will help our team fine-tune the truck
setup to run those tenths-of-a-second faster, we've been looking for. We have
run well on the super speedways in the past and are looking to pick it up another
notch with Gary's help."
The “Silverado 350” at Texas Motor Speedway will be run Friday, October 5,
2001 at 8:00 PM (central time). MRN radio will broadcast the race live. ESPN2
will tape delay the race and air it Saturday, October 6th at 1:00
AM and again on Tuesday, October 9th at 1:30 PM.
