Waterloo Tool Storage Ford Places 19th In "GNC Live Well
200" Truck Race
Larry Gunselman and the Waterloo Tool Storage team fought
a tight handling race truck throughout the "GNC Live Well 200" race
at the Milwaukee Mile Saturday afternoon to finish in the top-20. Larry started
the #63 Ford truck in the 26th position and steadily moved forward to finish
in 19th place.
"We had a good race truck," commented driver,
Larry Gunselman. "The motor was strong, but we struggled with the handling
the entire weekend. We were good going into the turn, but had a push coming
off the corner. We tried everything we could think of to loosen it up, but it
just didn't fix it. Milwaukee is a flat racetrack, but I was able to help us
some by running the high groove to hold the momentum off the turn."
"We also changed the gear for the race," continued
Larry. "We thought it might help us roll through the corner better, but
it turned out to be a mistake and didn't give us that extra low end power to
come off the corner. This was my first race at Milwaukee. I learned a lot and
look forward to coming back next year."
"The weekend was good, " stated owner and crew
chief, Mike Mittler. "We had a good truck, Larry did a good job, the pit
stops went well, and we brought the truck home in one piece. We sat out the
past few races to get everything prepared for the demanding summer schedule.
It looks like our efforts were worth all the hard work. We're pleased with our
19th place finish today."
"We had several new guys over the wall for pit stops
today and I'm real proud of them," Mike Mittler said. "The practice
time they put in paid off by putting Larry out one or two positions ahead of
where we came in each time. "
The #63 Waterloo Tool Storage Ford will be racing next
week at the new Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas on Friday and Saturday,
July 6th & 7th.
The live broadcast of the O'Reilly Auto Parts 250 NASCAR
Craftsman Truck race will be on ESPN television and MRN radio starting at 12:00
noon Saturday July 7th.
