Tough Weekend for Waterloo Tool
Storage Team Ends with Accident
Craftsman Truck Series Rookie Larry Gunselman and the Waterloo Tool Storage
MB Motorsports #63 Ford team invaded Indianapolis Raceway Park last Friday for
the Power Stroke 200 with hopes for a good run and instead came away with a
wrecked truck and a 31st place finish.
"It was a tough day all around," stated Gunselman. "We lost an engine midway
through practice and weren't able to get in a lot of time on the track.
As a result we didn't have the best qualifying setup and we were forced to start
near the back of the field."
Despite starting in 34th position, Gunselman was able to work the
truck through the field in the early going and gain several spots.
However, on lap 99 trouble hit the team when the No. 63 Ford was involved
in an accident in turn one. Larry was tapped by another truck, forcing
the rear end to break loose and sending the truck backwards into the wall.
Extensive damage to the rear of the Waterloo Tool Storage Ford sent it behind
the wall and out of the race.
Crew Chief and Owner Mike Mittler commented, “We just had a long tough day.
But everyone has those at some point. Unfortunately, this race is only
a one-day show and everything has to go smoothly. We’ll be back at Chicago
with an all out effort.”
Larry Gunselman is now 19th in the Craftsman Truck Series Driver
Standings and the team is 24th in the owners’ standings.
MB Motorsports’ next race will be the Sears Craftsman 175 at Chicago Motor
Speedway on Saturday, August 18th. ESPN & MRN will provide live coverage
of the event.
