WATERLOO TOOL STORAGE TEAM READY
TO RUN “PAPER CLIP” SHAPED CHICAGO MOTOR SPEEDWAY.
Craftsman Truck Series rookie contender, Larry Gunselman, driver of the Waterloo
Tool Storage #63 Ford Truck, is anxious to return to Chicago Motor Speedway
for the Sears Craftsman 175 Saturday afternoon, August 18th. It is one
of the few tracks that Larry has competed on in the past.
"This is a flat track that reminds me of a paper clip," stated Larry. "The
straight-aways are long and the turns are very tight, but similar. This is like
an extended Martinsville, you need horsepower to get off the corners and power
down the straight-aways, but use plenty of brake to slow down to make the turns."
Chicago Motor Speedway, located in Cicero, Illinois, is a 1-mile long oval
track that has equal length front and backstretches at 1600 feet long, with
6 degrees banking in the corners.
"I'm really looking forward to the race at Chicago Motor Speedway," commented
Larry.
"I had an opportunity to run here in 2000, but unfortunately was caught up
in an early race accident that shortened our day. We're excited to return to
a track that we've had some experience on."
“Our sponsor, Waterloo Tool Storage, is located relatively close and
has several large accounts in the Chicago area,” continued Larry. “The goal
in Chicago is to finish in the top-10. We plan to have a good run for Waterloo
and their customers.”
