Engine Problems Plague MB Motorsports at Bakersfield

March 20, 2001
For Immediate Release

Craftsman Truck Series Rookie Larry Gunselman and the Waterloo Tool Storage MB Motorsports #63 Ford team invaded Mesa Marin Speedway last weekend with high hopes for a good finish in the Orchard Supply Hardware 250.  Unfortunately, engine problems relegated them to a 26th place finish in the race.

"We had a pretty decent truck," stated Gunselman. "I was able to get as high as 17th early on before we broke a valve spring or something.  The truck kept running, but it ruined our chances.  I just had to stay out of the way and ride around until the end.”

Gunselman was able to stay out of trouble until late in the race when he was caught up in a wreck.  Fortunately, the truck suffered only minor body damage and was able to continue.

Larry Gunselman is now 23rd in the Craftsman Truck Series Driver Standings and the team is 25th in the owners’ standings.

The Craftsman Truck Series’ next race is the Advance Auto Parts 250 from Martinsville Speedway at 1:00 p.m. ET on Saturday April 7.  ESPN & MRN will provide live coverage of the event. It will be the first race at Martinsville for Gunselman.
