Nick Hoffman Shows "Inspirational" talent in Truck Series Debut

Team Owner Mike Mittler "Truly Amazed"

Nick Hoffman shows "inspirational" promise in Truck Series debut

Indianapolis Raceway Park (ORP) is one of the most unique tracks on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series schedule. It shows drivers exciting door to door, bumper to bumper racing each and every year. ORP also is a spot where many rookies in NASCAR make their leap of faith to the next level of their racing careers, hoping to capture their 15 seconds of fame. Young 18 year old racer, Nick Hoffman, captured the whole day on Friday July 23rd, where he opened up the eyes of many NASCAR industry professionals, and maybe even himself. Hoffman never saw ORP until Friday morning, where he bucked his racing shoes, and put on his fire suit to make his first laps around the famed short track. "It was hard to believe that I was actually there, and I was going to be doing this" Said Hoffman. The expectations of a debut at the NASCAR level can be very much limited, and the most important thing would be to get as many laps as possible.

Nick started the #63 Mittler Brothers Machine Ford and began a day full of inspirational moments. Completing both the first and final practices with a solid speed of 25th out of the 37 trucks trying to make the field. Nick managed to lay down a solid qualifying lap locking him into the race, where he would roll out 26th.

It was time for the green flag to drop on Hoffman for the first time, marking his first "Official" start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck series. From the start of the race Hoffman consistently progressed forward from his 26th Qualifying position. The race brought the #63 team some exciting moments, as Nick drove the Mittler Brothers entry towards the top 15 positions. It was with only 40 laps to go when Hoffman was passing under truck series regular, Donny Lia, for 16th position, and the truck got loose and went around backwards. "I was just having a lot of fun racing Lia there, and I drove it in under him that lap, and it just didn't stick the same, almost saved it... fortunately we didn't hit anything or mess anyone up" Said Hoffman. Nick was able to re-point the truck and finish the end of the race, bringing home a solid 23rd place finish.

Hoffman's team owner had some inspirational comments after the race. Mike Mittler of Mittler Brothers Racing, has been instrumental in bringing some of the biggest stars in the NASCAR world to surface. Many drivers made their start in the same seat that Hoffman did on Friday, including Carl Edwards and Jamie McMurray. Mittler's knowledge and eye to professional level talent is nearly unmatchable, and he believes he has another star in Hoffman. "I am truly amazed by what I saw at ORP. Nick is not your typical Rookie...he showed unbelievable talent right out of the gate, which is very hard to come by" Said Mittler. His excitement for Hoffman was echoed with the statement "Nick Hoffman is going to be in the Carl Edwards league someday"

It is undecided on the next steps for Hoffman, and the #63 team. However, Hoffman's talent will surely show him some more exciting opportunities in 2010, and potentially some major announcements for the 18 year old racer.
